An Ideal Location for a Continuing Care Retirement Community
*The proposed plan is in design stage and subject to change.
Senior Living Development (SLD) is proposing Rivers Edge, a redevelopment of the old UnitedHealthcare site at 48 Monroe Turnpike in beautiful Trumbull, Connecticut. The existing vacant UnitedHealthcare building will be converted into Independent, Assisted & Memory Care residences while the existing parking garage will be surrounded by a new Active Adult complex. The site also abuts Old Mine Park.
This development project will add vibrancy to the area by replacing a building that has been underutilized for years, while filling a critical need for the 55 and over community. Residents will enjoy beautiful surroundings of the Pequonnock River that abuts the residential community, with access to new trails and pedestrian walks. With nearly 30 percent of Trumbull's residents aged 55 and older, this project will allow area residents to stay in the community, close to home near loved ones and friends. The 2014 Plan of Conservation and Development in Trumbull also encourages expanding housing diversity. Rivers Edge fulfills this plan and more.
The Rivers Edge proposal includes 157 age-restricted active adult apartments, of which there are 35 one-bedroom, 31 one-bedroom
with a den, and 91 two-bedroom units. Residential parking will be contained on-site, and world-class amenities will include:
- Secure virtual entry systems
- On-site staff
- Clubhouse with a fireplace & pool table
- Fitness center
- Outdoor pool & gardens
- Coffee lounge
- Courtyard with picnic area, gazebo
- Stone countertops
- Stainless appliances
- Washer/dryer in each unit
- Garage parking
The Rivers Edge proposal also will include 193 assisted living units comprised of independent living, assisted living and memory care.
